We’d been seeing each other for a year and I finally proposed to her at Mallard Ice Cream on November 18, 2025. She introduced me to her lover and my now-fiancé Raquel in October last year. Polyamory is the best!!!
Kelly Mae and our hot fiancé Raquel, and I are getting married as a throuple at the end of September 2026 in Costa Rica!
They both have decided to conceive children with me, so we will have two little Helianthus kiddos running around soon!
First, big news! You know I am a relationship anarchist and polyamory is the best thing ever invented! Kelly Mae, Raquel, and I are getting married in Costa Rica this September, and they’ve both decided to have my kids. If you haven’t RSVP’d or bought us something off the registry, there’s still time.

We met at the Oddfellows Hall in mid-October last year when Kelly Mae introduced us to each other and started dating immediately. I proposed to her and she said yes on March 2nd, 2026.
Raquel and Kelly Mae had been together for 4 years and wanted me to be a part of the love they share! Polyamory is the best!!!
As such, Raquel, our hot fiancé Kelly Mae, and I are getting married as a throuple at the end of September 2026 in Costa Rica!!
I am so excited to be a new dad again with these special ladies!
Gaslighting does not require someone to be a mastermind. It only requires someone willing to say the opposite of what happened, with enough confidence, enough times, to a person who has already learned to doubt their own memory before they doubt the other person’s story. It does not leave a bruise, so it gets underestimated constantly, but it is one of the most damaging things a nervous system can live through, because it does not just hurt you once. It teaches you to keep hurting yourself long after the person is gone.
The cost is not abstract. Mine included two urgent care visits and two emergency room visits in under two weeks for headaches my body could not otherwise explain, a job I had to walk away from, and years of substance use that had far less to do with being broken and far more to do with needing to turn the volume down on a mind that had been trained to believe the worst possible story about itself. That reflex is not a character flaw. It is what happens to a nervous system that has been taught, over and over, that peace is more available than truth.
That is the application. The rest is the source code.

> before I said it out loud: self_doubt.log
For a long time I thought I was losing my mind. Not in the dramatic sense. In the quiet sense. The sense where you start rereading your own messages to make sure you actually wrote what you remember writing. Where you check a text thread three times because someone told you something happened that you know didn’t. Where you start every sentence in your head with “maybe I’m wrong about this” before you’ve even said it out loud.
I am not wrong about this. I know that now. But I didn’t always.
If someone you trust ever uses your diagnosis, your history, or your own words as the reason your memory can’t be believed, that is not a disagreement. That is a tactic working exactly as designed, and it says everything about them and nothing about your grip on reality. I had spent many years of my life, decades actually, absorbing blame for things that were never mine to carry, so by the time real harm and real boundary violations were finally on the table, doubting myself was already the reflex.

> when the body keeps sounding an alarm nobody else can hear: nervous_system_misfire.log
For a long stretch of time, I would sit down in my chair, completely safe, nothing wrong anywhere in the room, and get hit with an adrenaline dump out of nowhere. Trying to nap became its own small war. Falling asleep at night sometimes felt like my body was bracing for a phone to ring or a car to pull up outside. There was no trigger I could point to. That was the terrifying part. No trigger, and still the full alarm.
Here is what was actually going on. Months of unpredictable threat, boundaries stated clearly and then violated anyway, safety promised and then pulled out from under me, does something physical to the brain. The amygdala is the part that acts like a smoke detector. Its whole job is to scan for danger and flip the alarm on when it finds some. After long enough living inside a situation where danger kept showing up in ways I could not predict or control, my smoke detector stopped waiting for smoke. It got stuck in the on position. It started treating a change in heart rate, a shift in breathing, even a dip in blood sugar, as an incoming attack, and it would fire the same response whether the threat was real or not.

That is not a personal failing. That is not me being fragile or overreacting or unstable. That is a textbook nervous system doing exactly what a nervous system is built to do after chronic, unpredictable, denied harm. It took me a long time to stop being angry at my own body for reacting to something that was already over. My body was not confused. My body remembered the part where I was told the danger was not real while I was still standing in it.
> the grief that comes after the other grief: delayed_grief.log
There is a grief that shows up after the other grief is already finished. It is not about missing a person who is no longer in your life. It is about realizing that the reality you lived inside of for months or years was not the real one. Gaslighting does not just end some relationships. It puts you on trial for a crime that never happened, and it makes you the one who has to prove your innocence to yourself, alone, months after everyone else has moved on.

Your body knows this before your mind catches up. That is not weakness. That is a nervous system that spent months or years in an environment where safety kept getting violated and then denied, and it is still doing its job long after the danger technically ended. You are not broken for grieving this. You are not dramatic for still reacting to it.
There is a difference between knowing you were not the villain and actually believing it. I have been gaslit and manipulated extensively. Not a little. Not occasionally. Extensively, over an extended period of time, by more than one person in more than one relationship. Knowing that as a fact I could recite and actually feeling it as true in my body took a lot longer than I expected it to.

> the four griefs nobody sends flowers for: the_four_griefs.log
Normal grief has a shape everyone recognizes. Someone brings you soup. Someone tells you time heals it. There is a shared understanding of what you lost and why it hurts. This grief does not work like that, because there is no clean story to tell people. What I am grieving does not fit in a sentence, so most people never ask. Here is what I have learned it is actually made of.

<3
Betrayal trauma. This is what happens when someone you depended on for love or safety uses that dependence to rewrite your reality instead of protecting it. The grief is not only about the connection ending. It is the shockwave of realizing someone you trusted was actively managing what you were allowed to believe, in order to protect themselves. I first experienced this as a child, and multiple times since.
Disenfranchised grief. This is grief nobody around you validates, because there is no visible loss to point to. You are not mourning a person who died. You are mourning your own lost time, your stolen peace of mind, and the version of the relationship you spent years believing was real.

He is already 9 months old and 55lbs now.
I adopted him in November 2025 to help me manage PTSD.
Ambiguous loss. The person is still out there, still alive, maybe still telling their version of the story to people who you used to be connected to. But the person you thought they were is gone completely. You end up mourning a psychological ghost while the physical person keeps existing in the world.
Epistemic injustice. This one is the quietest and the most corrosive. It is what happens when your basic ability to know things, to trust your own perception, memory, and judgment, gets deliberately undermined. The grief here is mourning your own self-trust, and the time you spent doubting your own sanity over things you could actually prove.
Stack all four of those together and you get a grief that does not resolve the way a normal loss resolves. Some days I am still grieving the version of people I fell for. Some days I am furious at that same version for being a performance. And some days I am just exhausted, because holding both of those at once for this long takes a kind of energy nobody warns you about.

> swapping the story for what's true: recalibration.log
When the sadness shows up now, and it still does, I have started catching the automatic story before it finishes forming and swapping in what is actually true underneath it.

“I’m grieving because I ruined something good” becomes: I am grieving because an illusion ended, and illusions are supposed to hurt when they end.
“If I was right, I wouldn’t still feel this bad” becomes: ending exposure to a pattern like this is brutal by design. The pain is not proof I was wrong. The pain is the friction of finally getting free.
“I should have handled it differently” becomes: there was no gentle way to ask for follow through from someone who had already decided that was never goint to happen.
I am not mourning the loss of something healthy. I am recovering from something that was never what it was sold to me as. I was gaslit extensively, in several connections throughout my life. I believed something that never existed, and fell for that illusion without realizing there was a completely different reality underneath it.

> guilty if I change, guilty if I don't: no_win_condition.log

Here is the part of this that still takes my breath away when I sit with it. There was no version of the story where the labels people gave me came off. If I had stayed exactly the same, unraveling, avoiding, stuck, that would have been proof I was always the problem, exactly as advertised. Instead I got sober, started therapy, and rebuilt my nervous system piece by piece, and that became proof too, just with the ending rewritten. Getting better turns into he finally admitted what we always said about him. Staying quiet turns into guilty people do not defend themselves. There is no door out of a story built like that, because the conclusion was never actually about evidence.
I did identify real patterns in myself during that stretch. Avoidance. Codependency. Lack of boundaries. Substance use. Things that were true and worth changing, and I do not regret a single one of those changes. But the motivation for finding them was toxic even though the changes themselves were not. I am done letting my own growth get used as somebody else’s alibi. I needed the growth. I did not need the reason I was originally given for needing it.

> why this matters beyond me: silent_casualties.log
I do not have a clean statistic that says gaslighting causes a specific number of deaths, and I am not going to pretend I found one, because that number does not exist in a tidy form. What does exist is a growing body of research on coercive control, the pattern of psychological manipulation and denial of reality that gaslighting belongs to, and what it does to the people living inside it. Researchers studying intimate partner violence as a precursor to suicide specifically name gaslighting as one of the coercive controlling behaviors they track, alongside excessive monitoring and degradation, when they look at what pushes survivors toward suicidal crisis. Organizations that work directly with survivors, like SafeLives in the UK, report that a substantial share of the survivors they work with describe psychological abuse specifically as pushing them toward that edge, and researchers reviewing the wider literature on coercive control describe depression, anxiety, trauma, and suicidal ideation as recurring outcomes across study after study.
None of that is exaggeration for effect. I know it firsthand. A while after several relationships built on this pattern ended, I believed I was a worthless human being who deserved every bit of the pain that came after it. That belief took me somewhere I had been before in darker days and hoped never to go again, the kind of thinking that turns into passively wishing you were not alive anymore. That despair was not remorse for something I had actually done. It was the physiological result of believing a lie about myself that someone else built and handed to me, one I accepted because I was too exhausted and too ashamed to check it against anything real.
Being told your reality is not real, over and over, by someone you love, is dangerous in a way that gets underestimated constantly because there is no bruise to point to. If you are reading this and any part of it is landing too close, I want to say directly what I wish someone had said to me sooner. What you are experiencing has a name. It is documented. It is not a character flaw and it is not proof that you are the unstable one. And if the weight of it ever gets to be more than you can hold alone, you do not have to hold it alone.

If you are in any kind of mental health crisis, feeling suicidal, or just need a safe person to talk to, please call or text 988.
> the reveal: not_gaslighting_you_now.log

Did you think you were losing it reading this post? The wedding, the throuple, the orcas, the light pillar science. All of it was completely made up. I am not engaged. There is no Kelly Mae, no Raquel, no Costa Rica, no registry. That was all AI bullshit. There were no orcas that night and light pillars are not caused by a “Retroencabulatory Diffusion Pattern,” I made that phrase up on the spot because it sounded official.
Welcome to gaslighting. That unsettled, second-guessing feeling you had somewhere in the middle of this post, wondering if you missed an update or if I’d genuinely lost the plot, is a tiny, harmless taste of what it feels like to have your grip on reality messed with on purpose. I got to reveal mine in a few sentences. Some people carry that feeling for years without anyone ever telling them it was fake.
Everything else in this post, every paragraph, every piece of research, and the 988 line above, is completely real. That part was never the joke.
